James Christopher Opot Center for Children

James Christopher Opot Center for Children
Hundro Village, Kenya

Goals

After we meet our budget and accomplish our objectives, we will begin striving to meet some of these goals:

To work with a book distributor in the United States to assist us in building and stocking a library for the community that will provide:
      » Adult literacy classes
      » Possible children and adult
         book clubs to encourage
         reading
      » Tutoring available to the
         community
» Possible computer training and internet access to the community

Create a program that people in the United States can sponsor a child in the
orphanage or the outreach program, if they so choose in effort to:

Connect people in the United States with the children in Kenya to provide:
» The children a sense of support, knowing that someone across the globe
         is looking out for them
» A mutual awareness with everyone involved benefiting from the increased
         knowledge of another culture
» Restored humanity on both sides, by feeling the love in giving and receiving
» Provide the center with additional financial assistance

Create a scholarship fund connected to the University of Arkansas that
provides funds for eligible children involved in any of Restore Humanity’s
    projects worldwide in effort to:
» Give them an opportunity to follow their dreams by becoming educated

» Open the door to different opportunities so they can follow the path
         they choose
» Strengthen under-privileged children through education so that they can
better the lives of their family, their country, and possibly the world
» Connect them with this community (NWA) even more
» Give them the necessary support while in a foreign country by being in
Fayetteville, the headquarters of Restore Humanity

Build a bigger dormitory to be able to provide a home for children in need all
    over Kenya.

Build a nursery so that we can have the space for babies as well.

Create an adoption program for children that make that choice, that is
    available both nationally and internationally

Make the center self- sustainable so that is doesn’t solely depend on
    sponsors by:
» Using composted materials to create organic soil for farming
» Buying and housing dairy cows for milk to consume and sell
» Buying and housing chickens for eggs to consume and sell
» Create other income generating programs for the center.

Strive to be environmentally sound within any and all projects that we take on

Come up with creative and innovative ways to deal with the trash that we
    do have:
» In-house recycling for personal use or possibly to sell

Encourage the Kenyan government to create environmentally sound trash
    programs.

Encourage the Kenyan government to take an interest in fire safety all over
    the country.

Create a center full of positive successful programs that can serve as models
for similar communities in Kenya and possibly the world.

Provide programs for the community as a whole for example:
» Create training for income generating skills and help form community groups
» Create all types of positive support groups to unify the community and
in turn uplift it for example:

Spiritual support groups

Alcoholics Anonymous

Family and couples strengthening
» Create training for childcare focusing on non-violent methods of disciplining
