JCO Children’s Home

The James Christopher Opot (JCO) Children’s Home is an orphanage founded by Juanita Opot and Sarah Fennel Buchanan in Siaya County Kenya.  The JCO is Restore Humanity’s principal program and is animated by a deep concern for the difference between mere survival and the heights of human flourishing. RH Scholars

This scholarship program is a natural extension of our JCO Children’s Home. Our children who have the desire to attend a university and have demonstrated high academic achievement join our RH Scholars Program and we send them to university. We have RH Scholars in both the US and Kenya. Read more

Restore Humanity serves orphans and vulnerable children in rural Kenya through two interconnected programs that provide lifelong support.

• At our JCO Children’s Home, children receive the love, care, and consistency of a safe, nurturing family environment.

• When they graduate from high school, we continue that care through our RH Scholars Program, fully funding their university, college, or trade school education and offering continued mentorship and emotional support.

We don't just respond to crises — we build futures.  The children we raise don’t age out of our care, they grow into it.  Our alumni have become teachers, engineers, electricians, entrepreneurs, and community leaders, living proof that lifelong support can break cycles of poverty and create ripple effects that uplift entire communities. The children we raise grow into compassionate leaders who return home to inspire, employ, and empower others.
